The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has given the green light to the next phase of a new Gateway project on the East Lansing campus.

Michigan State University President Kevin Guskiewicz says the 14-acre Spartan Gateway project will include a new hotel, retail space, and a new athletic arena on the west side of campus.

This area will support our work as a talent activator through engagement with the School of Hospitality Business, Health Sciences, and other colleges, and through its facilities and programming, it will enhance the community’s economic health and quality of life,” Guskiewicz said.

Guskiewicz says the new arena will accommodate volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics. Plus, he says the new development is expected to attract new businesses, including restaurants and retail establishments.
