Lincoln Township is close to posting the position of township manager as the board of trustees moves toward a new form of local government.
At a meeting this past week, Trustee Marc Florian presented to the board the job description for the manager’s post. Trustees concurred the language drawn up by the manager search subcommittee is appropriate, and now Florian tells us they can move forward.
“Right now we just completed the review of the job description,” Florian said. “The job description will be the significant component of the posting that we will do for this position, which will occur sometime over the course of the next week, week and a half.”
Trustees have opted to hire a township manager, rather than have township administrative duties handled by the elected supervisor, once Supervisor Dick Stauffer steps down this year. Florian says as responsibilities in the township office grow, it would be prudent to have a professional manager than hoping a capable supervisor like Stauffer will continue to be elected every four years.
The position of manager will be posted this month, they’ll invite candidates in for interviews in August, and the plan is to hire a manager in September.
